Junior Year

FasTrak Project

What is it?

For this project, students were tasked with completing a ten-hour internship. This requires evidence through photos, video, notes, and an activity log. After the internship, students need to give an oral presentation to a panel of judges showcasing their experience and what they have learned. They also need to teach the judges about a process necessary to the career they chose.

Mission Statement

My mission is to use my love for children and desire to help others to create a positive environment in the classroom. I want to make a difference. Whether big or small, it all helps. I hope to learn more about being a special education teacher and consider pursuing this career.

My Mentor

Meet Nicole Messick!
I had the pleasure of completing my internship with Nicole Messick. She is a special education teacher at Hawes Elementary School. Mrs. Messick teaches children from kindergarten to second grade. She has only taught at Hawes for three years, but she has been teaching for nine years. As for education, she had her Specialist-Moderate/Severe credential and Master of Education in Teaching. I would describe her as a patient, kind, and passionate individual.
